The team

One explorer, four artists

An explorer who knows the Far North, and four artists about to discover it. Each will bring back their images, drawings or sounds, with the same wish: to cultivate wonder.

● The explorer

Moufid Taleb

Polar explorer, expedition guide

A polar explorer, his expeditions have taken him from the ice of Antarctica to the frozen mountains of Svalbard, by way of Lapland.

Through his journeys, he tells of what is most powerful about cold regions: their vastness, their silence, their harshness, and the fragile beauty of the living world. He will guide the four artists on this adventure where an expedition and artistic creation meet.

01 Images and story

Hugo Paradis

Filmmaker, founder of Komeo

An engineer by training, Hugo followed his passion for video by founding Komeo, an audiovisual creative agency. He learned his trade ten years ago at music festivals, making videos watched millions of times, and he will take part in Nammásj on both sides of the camera!

With Monsif, he will film the adventure from the inside, the high points and the off days alike.

Monsif Taleb

Professional filmmaker, MTLBPROD

An engineer by training, Monsif is now an independent filmmaker under the name MTLBPROD. He explores all kinds of worlds through the people he meets and the projects he takes on, often bringing his love of sport into them.

With Nammásj, he will step out of his comfort zone once more and put that versatility to work on an adventure he will live as much as film. Alongside Hugo, he will tell its day-to-day story, from shared effort to moments of creation.

03 Drawing

Laura Lhuillier

Illustrator and artist

A recognised artist inspired by wildlife, plants and the night sky, Laura creates a rich, colourful world where nature mingles with imagination. Her joyful eye invites us to marvel at the small details as much as the big ones!

With Nammásj, she will set out to meet the landscapes of the Far North and turn into images what the adventure and the northern lights stir in her.

04 Music

Juliette Saumagne

Cellist and singer, L.E.J

A cellist and singer, Juliette is one of the three voices of L.E.J, the trio from Saint-Denis now making its way with its own songs.

With Nammásj, she trades the stage for the silence of the Far North. She will look for sounds, rhythms and silences she has never heard, to tell the Sarek in music.

Our approach

Creating off the beaten track

Our worlds are very different, but they all grew up around cities, stages and people. Silence, cold and wide open spaces will be a first for each of us.

That is exactly what draws us.

01

What we are going to look for

Time away from screens and noise. Colours, light and sounds we don’t know yet.

02

What we are going to create

A film, photos, drawings, music. Each at our own pace, on the spot or once home.

03

What we are going to tell

What happens when artists set down their things in an untouched landscape, and what they learn there. We are sharing it from the preparation onwards, so that this corner of the world speaks to many more people than the five of us.

● Next step: raising what we need to set off
