What your donation pays for

Load the pulka

A pulka is the sled each of us pulls behind us, with everything needed for about nine days on our own. Four bags to load: tap them to see what your donation pays for.

The journey · bag 1 of 4

Getting there and back safely

The long trip north to Lapland, and a way to stay in touch where no phone gets a signal.

Your donation pays for

  • Return travel for all five of us, from Rouen and Lyon to Saltoluokta
  • Shipping the gear and the pulkas
  • The satellite beacon, which also shows our position on this site
  • The first-aid kit and navigation gear
  • Accommodation before setting off and on the way back

Did you know?Saltoluokta lies beyond the Arctic Circle. In the middle of the Sarek, the satellite beacon is the only way to call for help.

The gear · bag 2 of 4

Kitted out for the cold

Everything we need to glide, pull, sleep and stay warm until the very end of the expedition.

Your donation pays for

  • Nordic touring skis, boots and skins
  • The pulkas and their harnesses
  • Tents that stand up to the wind, and shovels
  • Sleeping bags, insulated mats, stove and fuel
  • Technical clothing, from base layers to down jackets

Did you know?We stick “skins” under our skis: their angled hairs glide forwards and grip backwards, so we can climb without sliding back.

The food · bag 3 of 4

Fuel for the expedition

About nine days on our own, with no resupply: every meal is our fuel.

Your donation pays for

  • Freeze-dried meals, light to pull
  • Some more ordinary meals for evenings at camp
  • Energy snacks and nutrients to keep going

Did you know?In the cold, and under effort, the body needs far more energy than usual. And all the water on the trip comes from melted snow.

Making art in the cold

What we need to tell what we live up there, in images, drawings and music, and then share it as widely as we can.

  • Music
  • Drawing
  • Photography
  • Film

Your donation pays for

  • Cameras for film and photos
  • Drawing materials and sound recording gear
  • Batteries and protection from the cold

Did you know? The cold drains batteries before your eyes and can freeze ink: every tool has to be protected, often kept close to the body.

Now we just need to fund it, together. Every donation, however small, brings us closer to setting off.

Questions

Before you give

Another question? Write to contact@nammasj.fr.

The fundraiser page is in French. How do I give?

Our fundraiser runs on HelloAsso, a French platform for non-profits, so its page is only in French. Pick a reward tier (or an amount of your choice), enter your name and email, then pay by card. It takes about two minutes, and your browser can translate the page for you.

A question about rewards before you give? Just write to us.

Where does the money go?

It fills the four bags on the pulka: the journey, the gear, the food, creating. A breakdown of costs is also on the fundraiser page.

Your donations and our partners cover these needs together.

Who runs the fundraiser?

Moufid’s non-profit association, Explorateur Terrien (a French association under the 1901 law, RNA W763018853). The money raised funds the Nammásj expedition.

Is payment secure?

No payment goes through this site. The fundraiser is hosted by HelloAsso, which collects contributions under its own terms. We never see your bank details.

HelloAsso charges the association no fees: at checkout, it suggests a voluntary tip towards its running costs, which you can change or remove.

What do I get in return?

From €10, each tier comes with its rewards, from your name on our list of contributors to a poster signed by Laura: everything is listed above and on the fundraiser page.

And above all the adventure itself, which we’ll share with you before, during and after we set off.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Unless the fundraiser page says otherwise, no: contributions do not come with a tax receipt.

What if the goal isn’t reached?

It isn’t all-or-nothing: every donation goes to the association and funds the expedition, even if the goal isn’t met.

I represent a company or an institution.

Partnerships are built to fit your values: supporting art and culture, and bringing people closer to the living world. Everything is explained on the Partners page.

I can’t give. How can I help?

Follow the adventure on Instagram (@moufid_taleb) and share our posts: every share helps us meet future supporters and partners.

How can I follow the expedition?

During the expedition, a satellite beacon will show our position and messages on the map on the Expedition page. Before and after, everything is shared on Instagram.
